Microsoft publisher has been around for a long time but it has never been able to run on Apple computers. If you’re like me you probably have friends who have Microsoft publisher files they occasionally email you. Sadly there is no way to open a Microsoft publisher file on a Mac, until now…
- As others have mentioned there is no Mac application that can work with Publisher files. (EDIT: As Tom pointed out LibreOffice 4.0 and above, released in February 2013, can now open and work with Publisher files) What I've recommended for people at our office who have made the switch to Mac is to either export to a different format.
- Microsoft has never released Publisher on Mac but here we’ve looked at the best alternatives to Publisher for Mac to do desktop publishing on macOS. MS Publisher is different from Microsoft Word because it focuses more on Desktop Publishing (DTP) than word processing software. The apps featured here are suitable for creating all types of print and online publications including newsletters.

Here are two websites that can convert Microsoft publisher files to PDF.
Was it created in a different (earlier) version of publisher? Was it created on a different machine (different operating system)? Some of the security built in to newest versions of office and Windows will block you from editing that document. 2020-4-1 Does Microsoft Publisher work on Mac? Microsoft Publisher is only available for PC. What is the equivalent of Microsoft Publisher on Mac? There are several desktop publishing alternatives to Microsoft Publisher. While Apple computers come with some basic publishing programs such as Pages, Lucidpress offers a more robust publishing platform that.
You can then open, read and print the pdf file on your Mac. You can even edit them.
I have tested both of these conversion sites and they both work pretty well. They are both free.
Site one is easier, to use, just read the instructions below, but I’ve included two sites just in case one of them goes down or doesn’t work for you.

The office suite is molded to the Mac by the Mac Business Unit at MS. They do so because those tools have little competition in the marketplace. When it comes to design functions, most of those on the mac are far surpassed by the Adobe product line – InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator. So MS doesn’t bother porting Publisher to the mac because it can’t compete. Simple cost-benefit analysis.

A better working site, for me, has turned out to be https://www.zamzar.com/
It actually appears to be a better site all the way around as it easily parsed my larger files and offers several conversion file types.

With this site you upload a Microsoft publisher file and the site automatically converts it and then you download it via your Safari web browser as a PDF file.
1. Go to online2pdf.com
2. Click on the browse button and upload your publisher file.
3. The file will automatically download as a safari download.
4. Click on the download and it will open in preview and you can print it.
This has Google ads along the right hand sidebar so I assume it is funded by Google advertising. Microsoft powerpoint for mac free download 2013.
Site two: http://www.publishertopdf.com
This site is similar.
1. Go to publishertopdf.com
2. Drag your file on this icon to upload it.
3. When the orange download box appears, click on it. This can take a few minutes for large files.
This second site doesn’t have any advertising.
I have tested both these sites and they both worked for the file I was converting which was a four-page document including text and images. I couldn’t see that one site worked any better than the other.
